![]() If you're doing an AP a ranger isn't a bad choice, but I'm not a huge fan of favored enemy since it's so specific. You can take that at level 1 as a fighter or level 3 for anyone else. You could also go for a reach build if you take shield brace. For a shield there's actually a perfect fit: the dwarven war shield!įor your other weapon the optimal and hilarious route is actually using an identical shield, but you can just pick whatever. Since you already said you don't want to go full tank I'd recommend the twf with a shield (or shields). Unfortunately shields don't really do much other than a moderate AC bonus if you can spend the money. I appreciate all the tips.įor an effective build using a sword and shield, afaik there's really only 2 main routes: full tank with a tower shield and mobile bulwark style line or twf with a shield. Thanks!Įdit: Thanks everyone for all the help and suggestions! I liked a lot of the ideas, there were even a few unique build ideas that were outside what I had considered before. Please recommend classes, feats, and just general build suggestions for a sword and shield using Dwarf. ![]() Obviously fighter gets a ton of feats and weapon training. Ranger is appealing for the animal companion as a flank buddy, plus combat style again. I like the sneak damage from slayer, plus the combat style feats from the talents would allow for prereq free abilities, like shield master at 6th level. I cannot decide between fighter, ranger, or slayer. I want something more in the middle, a good tank that can do reasonable damage.Ĭurrently I want to use dwarf for flavor reasons. I’ve seen some that turtle up for crazy AC. I’ve seen a couple guides that go hard on the two weapon fighting and end up with rend for good damage. ![]() I want to make a Dwarven character that wields a sword and shield effectively.
